Caught as a Nidoran and affectionately named “Spike”, but in German, Stachel quickly evolved into a Nidorino. He is every bit as prickly as he looks.
Thanks to Jean (JEAN!! OF ALL PEOPLE!!), Stachel evolved into a Nidoking on Eren's birthday. Now Stachel loves Jean a lot, and gives him affectionate hugs... usually resulting in at least mild poisoning for Jean. He's mellowed out in general since evolving, and is much less prickly in personality than before. Maybe he was just insecure?
